Very much a community festival, with many(most? all?) locals participating as volunteers and/or performers. Jeanne McClure Jazz Band did a great set at the Inn at Strathyre. A five piece jazz combo playing standards, they were tight and polished, while having fun. The Voicebeat Choir Glasgow brought songs from around the world in an a Capella style. Local youth were represented well by Brian DeeJay ( Brian Eley and David Jack) on acoustic guitars playing covers and originals and Sophie Milne solo set on guitar.
The prize for artists from furthest away went to Dwight and Jo-Ann Pereira from Kuala Lumpur. Brother and sister sang originals and covers in close harmony.
Perhaps the highlight of the day was the Jam Tent at the campgrounds. A pickup band played skiffle tunes while individuals played and sang folk songs and country standards and a few baudy songs. The most colorful artist was "Tex", dressed to the nines in a Western shirt, tooled Western belt, and cowboy boots singing country songs "Till the Las Teardrop Falls", "Amarillo by Morning" and others. We are still scratching our heads over "The Beaches of Cheyenne".
All in all an enjoyable day of music in a beautiful setting.
