Travel Days

Flying non-rev on benefits is a mixed blessing.  You can get pretty much anywhere you want, but it may not always be the most ideal schedule.  As we got closer to our departure date, I knew that getting to Philadelphia for the flight to Glasgow would be our greatest challenge.  So I began looking for backup routes and a location where we could possibly overnight.

I settled on Baltimore.  The flight from Denver was wide open, yes it got in a bit late (1:15 am) but there were several flights the next day from BWI to PHL all with available seats, so I thought we could sleep in a bit the next morning. When we boarded the plane in Denver they announced we would be 1.5 hours later in our arrival, due to storms across the Midwest. This would put is in to BWI at 2:45 am......oh well, what could we do?  As it turns out, as the weather began to break up, they were able to cut time/miles off of our alternate flight path, and we were in BWI at the original time!

Next day we headed to the airport, checked our bags to GLA, something we've never done before when flying non-rev, then boarded our 20 minute flight from BWI to PHL. Arrived in Phillie just in time for lunch.  Had a great Philly Cheesesteak sandwich at Chickie's & Pete's. Then we had a few hours to burn in the airport.

Finally, our flight boarded - not lucky enough to land seats in First Class, but on the flight, and on our way.  Arrived this morning just before 7:00 am at the Glasgow Airport.  Our dear friend Margaret, sent her son-in-law to collect us.  So now we're at her house, having a very low key day.  I'm sure Joe will blog after we attend a folk festival tomorrow!
